Located in the Near North community, the Jesse White Park and Community Center is 1.64 acres and it includes a fieldhouse with a gymnasium, a computer room, a fitness studio with wheelchair accessible stationary rollers and a state of the art gymnastics center.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Day Parade – 11/25 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

 

The Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, from 8:00am to 11:00am, and will run along State Street, from Ida B. Wells Drive to Randolph Street.  The parade will be broadcast live on VPOD-TV 59.3 and on VPOD-TV’s Roku station.

This year’s lineup includes a variety of marching bands, floats, specialty units, and much more. To view the complete 2021 lineup click here.

To accommodate the parade, the following street closures will take place:

• State Street, between Washington and Randolph from 6:00pm Wednesday, November 24 to Thursday, November 25 at 3:00pm.
• State Street, between Ida B. Wells Drive and Washington Street from 8:00am to 1:00pm on Thursday, November 25.
• All east/west streets on State Street, from Ida B. Wells Drive to Lake Street will be closed between Wabash and Dearborn from 8:00am to 11:30am on Thursday, November 25.
• North curb lane on Washington, from State to Dearborn beginning from 6:00am on Wednesday, November 24 to Thursday, November 25 at 3:00pm
• Ida B. Wells Drive, from LaSalle to Wabash from 8:30am to 10:45am on Thursday, November 25.

Residents should allow for extra travel time during this event as the Chicago Police Department may enact other closures not listed above for safety reasons. There will be several traffic reroutes, detours and increased pedestrian congestion.  Please plan accordingly. Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) reroutes are viewable here.

The Chicago Help Initiative – Feeding Hope – See the Video

The Chicago Help Initiative (CHI) is one of the charitable organizations that RNRA supports annually.

One day there might be lots of stories that come out of the last year. CHI has one to share right now – it’s in this video!  One of the elements that stands out is the value of community and of connection to other people. That is something we all will hold close going forward.
