The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation – 15th Annual Run to Remember – 018th District retains the Superintendent’s Cup

Team Captain Yoly Ortiz and Erin Bauer

Our 018th District Chicago Police Department retained the Superintendent’s Cup for this year’s 15th Annual Run to Remember with Team 018 Blue for Bauer! Congratulations 018th District and Team Captain Yoly Ortiz!

Members of RNRA joined Team 018 Blue for Bauer Saturday May 4 at Gold Star Families Memorial Park. We participated in memory of our beloved Commander Paul Bauer and for all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Run to Remember helps raise money to assist families of officers who were tragically killed, wounded or injured in the line of duty.  We must never forget their sacrifices to the city who they served and protected.

This year’s event had more than 7,100 registrants, 350 junior joggers and rasied $600,000.

Team 018 Blue for Bauer shown below had nearly 500 registrants!

Ward Park Earth Day Clean-up  – Thank you to all who participated!

Ward Park Earth Day Clean-up

Despite the inclement weather, thirty-three River North residents and their families joined RNRA, Friends of the Parks and the Chicago Park District on Saturday, April 27 in A. Montgomery Ward Park to celebrate Earth Day.  Participating in the Friends of the Parks 30th Annual Chicago Earth Day Parks and Preserves Clean-up, volunteers worked together to collect litter and debris that had accumulated in the park during the winter months. Thanks to their efforts, Ward Park will be a cleaner, safer and more beautiful place to play, relax and enjoy nature.

Community Meeting Summary for Development Proposal at 308 West Erie and 301 West Huron

On 4/15/19 Alderman Reilly and the River North Residents Association (RNRA) co-hosted an informational presentation regarding a development proposal that includes one existing building (308 West Erie), and two parking lots (301 West Huron). Thank you to all who were able to attend.

The Applicant has proposed a Business Planned Development to include one existing building (308 West Erie) and two surface parking lots. The proposed development is planned in two sub-areas / phases:

An addition to the existing building (308 West Erie) that will create a new 6-story building.

An existing 15,100 SF landsite, with a proposed 15-story / 186′ tall building (301 West Huron) that will consist of approximately 153,000 SF of new office space, and contain 137 replacement parking spaces. The first floor will be a combination of retail and the building lobby.

Additionally, the new building at 301 West Huron may feature a kinetic facade, pictured above, which will both shield the parking structure and act as a reactive art installation that moves with the wind.

Please click on the following links to download the slideshow presentation and traffic study.

As you know, Alderman Reilly works hard to provide an open and transparent community review of all local development proposals. This project has not received Alderman Reilly’s support, and this informational meeting was only the beginning of his rigorous, transparent community process. Alderman Reilly looks forward to hearing any concerns and comments you may have about this proposal. Please send feedback to development@ward42chicago.com.
