The Free Weekly Classical Music Summer Series Returns for its 20th Season.
The International Music Foundation (IMF) is proud to present the 2019 season of Rush Hour Concerts. Beginning June 4 and continuing every Tuesday through August 13, join IMF for free weekly classical music performances at St. James Cathedral located at 65 East Huron Street. Doors open at 5:00PM, pre-concert conversations begin at 5:15PM and performances begin at 5:45PM.
Rush Hour Concerts revamps the traditional classical music concert format by presenting short, high-quality chamber music performances in an intimate and informal setting. Each free half-hour concert is performed by world-class musicians from Chicago ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera of Chicago and numerous independent chamber music groups. Prior to each concert, audience members are invited to participate in a conversation with performers and composers led by Rush Hour Concerts Artistic Director Anthony Devroye.
The lineup for the twentieth anniversary season of Rush Hour Concerts emphasizes music by female composers, along with an eclectic mix of repertoire favorites and hidden gems. Every program features women composers and/or performers, with music ranging from the 16th to 21st century.

Each Summer since 2006, the River North Residents Association has hosted a series of outdoor films for residents and visitors. Community input is collected via an online survey and the selected films are shown in beautiful A. Montgomery Ward Park, located on the riverfront at Kingsbury and Erie.

As a reminder, there is a DFA (Dog Friendly Area) located in the north section of Ward Park along Larrabee, but dogs are prohibited in the south section of the park where films are shown.
The free films begin at dusk, weather permitting, and include fresh, hot popcorn for the first 150-200 attendees.

Representatives of Rotary Club of Chicago Cosmopolitan, River North Residents Association and Wateriders joined together on Saturday, May 11 in A. Montgomery Ward Park for the Friends of the Chicago River 40th Annual Chicago River Day Clean-up. Volunteers worked together to help maintain both the river and our wonderful riverfront park as invaluable resources where residents can play, relax and enjoy nature.
This week the City of Chicago rolled out a new web-based tool that allows the public to easily find out what types of road construction projects and special events are happening in their neighborhood, called ChiStreetWork. Developed by the Chicago Department of Transportation, this site allows people to search by Ward, neighborhood, intersection or street address and pull up details on permitted construction activities.
Once the search terms are entered, the map populates one month past, current and up to one year of future construction projects and infrastructure upgrades, special events and paving information in the
public way. When a user clicks on an active project or event, it will display the CDOT permit, which includes details such as company name, street or lane closure impacts, work-hours and more.
Along with project and event information, users can find which streets have been repaved in the past 5 years. The map also provides users with features such as bus routes and stops, parking impacts, bike lanes, viaduct heights, speed and red light camera locations, and current traffic conditions.

Ward Park Earth Day Clean-up
Despite the inclement weather, thirty-three River North residents and their families joined RNRA, Friends of the Parks and the Chicago Park District on Saturday, April 27 in A. Montgomery Ward Park to celebrate Earth Day. Participating in the Friends of the Parks 30th Annual Chicago Earth Day Parks and Preserves Clean-up, volunteers worked together to collect litter and debris that had accumulated in the park during the winter months. Thanks to their efforts, Ward Park will be a cleaner, safer and more beautiful place to play, relax and enjoy nature.
