Weekly Speaker Series at the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum Returns for 2017

Friends of the Chicago River is thrilled to announce the return of the “Lunch and Learn” Lecture Series at the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum. This eight week lunchtime lecture series focuses on the Chicago River system, its current health, and exciting improvements.  The lectures will take place on the riverwalk in front of Friends’ McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum located at 99 E. Riverwalk, Chicago, Mondays from 12:15 -12:45 p.m. starting July 10, 2017. This series is free and open to the public.

“You don’t have to be a river expert to enjoy this informal lunchtime event,” said Margaret Frisbie, Friends’ executive director.  “We invite everyone to come learn about river issues, stroll along the newly expanded riverwalk, and visit Friends’ unique Bridgehouse Museum.”  Expert speakers from institutions including the Shedd Aquarium, US Army Corps of Engineers, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, Urban Rivers, and more to be announced will cover topics on wildlife habitat along the Chicago River, invasive species, Chicago’s bridges, landscape architecture, and other Chicago River topics. This interesting set of speakers should change how people view the Chicago River and how they experience it.
