The annual Columbus Day Parade will take place on Columbus Day, Monday, October 12, 2015 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm The parade route will be on State Street from Wacker Drive to Van Buren Street.
The Columbus Day Parade is sponsored by the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans. This year marks the 63rd Anniversary, and features are over 150 different units including bands, floats and marchers.
Several streets in the 42nd Ward will be used for the parade as well as for staging and disbanding of parade entries:
Beginning at 9:00am and lasting until 2:00pm:
Both sides of Wacker Dr. (from Franklin to Wabash) will be closed.
Beginning at 12:00 pm and lasting until approximately 3:00pm:
Both sides of State St. (from Kinzie to Congress) will be closed.
Residents should allow for extra travel time during this event. There will be several traffic reroutes, detours and increased pedestrian congestion. Please plan accordingly. Chicago Transit Authority reroutes will be posted on the CTA website.
