This survey was launched today 4/12/23 in Reilly Reports. Please weigh in by taking this survey.

“In 2020, the City launched the Extended Outdoor Dining (EOD) program to close streets in key commercial corridors to accommodate additional capacity for guests looking to dine outdoors.

Clark Street between Grand Avenue and Kinzie Street was closed to vehicular traffic. Before further closures get implemented, we’d like to know what you thought! Click below to take the survey.”

April is 9-1-1 Education Month – Tips for Calling 9-1-1

The Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) wants to remind residents to be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity. If you notice something suspicious please call 9-1-1. If You See Something, Say Something™ is a national anti-terrorism public awareness campaign that emphasizes the importance of reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities.

When calling 9-1-1, you should always remember the 5 Ws:

What is happening or what type of service do you need?
Where is your location? Be as specific as possible and provide an exact address, intersection or provide a landmark.
Who are the offenders, can you provide a description? Are you the victim or someone else?
When did the event occur or is it happening now?
Weapons – are there weapons involved and what is it? A gun, knife, bat, brick, etc

National Child Abuse Prevention Month – Drive to collect for Maryville Crisis Center

Our 018 Community Policing Office does a lot of great work helping out those in need in the community from kids to seniors.  This is an opportunity to help support their work and do some good for those families in need.  Consider starting a drive in your building by identifying a drop off point for residents and finding an individual who is willing to take the items to the CPD drop off location.  We can make a difference. Register for Chicago River Day – May 13

Join Friends of the Chicago River on May 13 for the 31st annual Chicago River Day. The spring litter cleanup and restoration event draws thousands of volunteers every year to work along the 156-mile Chicago-Calumet River system at more than 75 locations from Lake County to the Calumet region and southwest to Summit, Palos and beyond.

While the overall health of the Chicago River system in greatly improved, litter is a persistent problem and is harmful to people and wildlife. Over the years, volunteers have carted off hundreds of tons of garbage from the 156-mile Chicago River system and now many are working to restore riverbanks and upland areas and work on trails. Friends began this volunteer-driven free, family-friendly tradition in 1992 and it has steadily grown into Friends’ largest and most popular volunteer event of the year that moves us toward a Litter Free Chicago-Calumet River system. This year’s activities also mark World Migratory Bird Day.

The three-hour litter and restoration cleanup event kicks off at 9 a.m., and runs to 12 noon. Registration is required. Register before May 5 to receive a Chicago River Day T-shirt featuring this year’s river species, the blue-spotted salamander (Ambystoma laterale). Each year Friends features a river animal as part of Chicago River Day to help connect us to the many different animals that rely on us to care for and protect the river system.
