Representatives of Rotary Club of Chicago Cosmopolitan, River North Residents Association and Wateriders joined together on Saturday, May 11 in A. Montgomery Ward Park for the Friends of the Chicago River 40th Annual Chicago River Day Clean-up.  Volunteers worked together to help maintain both the river and our wonderful riverfront park as invaluable resources where residents can play, relax and enjoy nature.

This week the City of Chicago rolled out a new web-based tool that allows the public to easily find out what types of road construction projects and special events are happening in their neighborhood, called ChiStreetWork. Developed by the Chicago Department of Transportation, this site allows people to search by Ward, neighborhood, intersection or street address and pull up details on permitted construction activities.

Once the search terms are entered, the map populates one month past, current and up to one year of future construction projects and infrastructure upgrades, special events and paving information in the
public way. When a user clicks on an active project or event, it will display the CDOT permit, which includes details such as company name, street or lane closure impacts, work-hours and more.

Along with project and event information, users can find which streets have been repaved in the past 5 years. The map also provides users with features such as bus routes and stops, parking impacts, bike lanes, viaduct heights, speed and red light camera locations, and current traffic conditions.

Our 018th District Chicago Police Department retained the Superintendent’s Cup for this year’s 15th Annual Run to Remember with Team 018 Blue for Bauer! Congratulations 018th District and Team Captain Yoly Ortiz!

Members of RNRA joined Team 018 Blue for Bauer Saturday May 4 at Gold Star Families Memorial Park. We participated in memory of our beloved Commander Paul Bauer and for all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Run to Remember helps raise money to assist families of officers who were tragically killed, wounded or injured in the line of duty.  We must never forget their sacrifices to the city who they served and protected.

This year’s event had more than 7,100 registrants, 350 junior joggers and rasied $600,000.

On 4/15/19 Alderman Reilly and the River North Residents Association (RNRA) co-hosted an informational presentation regarding a development proposal that includes one existing building (308 West Erie), and two parking lots (301 West Huron). Thank you to all who were able to attend.

The Applicant has proposed a Business Planned Development to include one existing building (308 West Erie) and two surface parking lots. The proposed development is planned in two sub-areas / phases:

An addition to the existing building (308 West Erie) that will create a new 6-story building.

An existing 15,100 SF landsite, with a proposed 15-story / 186′ tall building (301 West Huron) that will consist of approximately 153,000 SF of new office space, and contain 137 replacement parking spaces. The first floor will be a combination of retail and the building lobby.

Additionally, the new building at 301 West Huron may feature a kinetic facade, pictured above, which will both shield the parking structure and act as a reactive art installation that moves with the wind.
