Thank you for being a participating merchant in the My River North Mobile App. As part of our ongoing effort to improve the merchant experience, this page provides answers to frequently asked questions about the app, along with a simple, secure feedback form.

Is MRN compatible with Apple & Android devices? Yes, the most recent editions of each
Is there a cost to download the app? No, it’s free to all users
Who can use discount offers in the app? RNRA members (and employees of RNRA sponsors at the discretion of sponsor management)
Do app users have to register? Yes
What is a user code? A simple code assigned to each member building & sponsor business. Codes are only needed for redeeming discounts
What if users forget their code? The app reminds them at time of redemption
How do users redeem a discount offer? 1) On the offer screen, click “redeem” & enter user code.

2) Ask staff to enter redemption code. 3) Enjoy!

Can discount offers change? Yes, as often as each business day
Must businesses always display a discount offer? Yes
What types of offers may be used? Offers may be designed to best suit each business (BOGO, bundling, upgrades, straight % or $ discounts, etc.)
Are restrictions on use allowed? Yes, reasonable restriction such as “not valid on Saturdays or holidays” are allowed
Is there a limit on characters in an offer description? Yes, 150 plus spaces
How do businesses change offers? Send a message to MRNoffers@rnrachicago.org from an authorized email address. The new offer will appear in the app by close of business on the next business day.
What if non-members try to redeem discounts? They won’t have a code and will be encouraged to join RNRA
Can a business be listed in multiple categories? Yes, businesses choose one or more when they sign up
Can an offer be redeemed more than once? Generally yes, but details are up to each business
Can users search for a business by name? Yes, by pulling down the “near me” or “category” screen
Can users recommend a business for the app? Absolutely! They can email us at info@rnrachicago.org
Why must businesses enter a redemption code? To record app usage data at the point of sale
How are redemption codes selected? Each participating business selects their own code
What if a staff member forgets the redemption code? Reminder cards are provided for training & posting
How are gratuities handled? Users are encouraged to base tips on the undiscounted price
How do businesses receive usage data? Quarterly reports will be sent to each business
Is the app integrated with social media platforms? Yes, Facebook and Twitter
Does the app use location sharing & push notifications? Yes, authorized by users after download
What kind of notices will be pushed? River North events, community alerts and app updates
Can sponsors suggest changes to the app? Definitely, all input is appreciated
How many members does the RNRA have? Over 6,800 households, or nearly 10,000 individuals
How are participating businesses promoted? Via the app, website, onsite signage & public meetings
Is there a limit to the number of MRN businesses? No, the more the merrier!
