My River North Merchant Support

Thank you for being a participating merchant in the My River North Mobile App. As part of our ongoing effort to improve the merchant experience, this page provides answers to frequently asked questions about the app, along with a simple, secure feedback form.

Is it compatible with Apple & Android-based devices? Yes, the most recent editions of each.
How do people get the app on a mobile device? It’s free from the App StoreSM or Google PlayTM.
Is information about the app available online? Yes, at RNRAChicago.org/myrivernorth.
What is displayed on each merchant screen? Name, logo, address, image, description, phone, website, map, Yelp & “view deal” button. Reservation links are optional.
Is there a limit on characters in a business description? Yes, 150 characters plus spaces.
Who can redeem deals? All users, only through the app.
How do users redeem a deal? 1) On “merchant” screen, click “view deal” & show to staff.

2) On “deal” screen, click “redeem”.

3) On “confirmation” screen, click “yes” and enjoy!

What must merchant employees do? Confirm deal on customer’s device and apply the discount.
Can deals change? Yes, as often as every second business day.
Must businesses always display a deal? Yes.
What types of deals may be used? Deals may be designed to suit each business’ needs (BOGO, bundling, upgrades, straight % or $ discounts, etc.).
Are restrictions on use of deals allowed? Reasonable restrictions such as “not valid on holidays” are allowed, but they must be displayed on the “deal” screen.
The app provides a field to describe deals and another for details or restrictions. Are there characters limits? Yes, max 50 characters in field #1 (required) and max 150 characters in field #2 (optional).
How do businesses change deals? Send updates to MRNoffers@rnrachicago.org from an authorized email address. New deals will appear in the app by no later than close of 2nd business day.
How many business categories are in the app? 14 categories.
Can a business be listed in multiple categories? Yes, businesses choose one or more when they sign up.
Can a deal be redeemed more than once? Generally yes, but details are up to each business.
Can participating businesses receive app usage data? Yes, reports will be available from RNRA.
Can users search for a business by name? Yes, by clicking the magnifying glass icon on the “deals” screen.
Can users recommend a business for the app? Absolutely! They can email us at info@rnrachicago.org.
How are gratuities handled? Users are encouraged to base tips on the undiscounted price.
Is the app integrated with social media platforms? Yes, Facebook and Twitter.
Does the app use location sharing & push notifications? Yes, authorized by users after download.
Can sponsors suggest changes to the app? Definitely, all input is appreciated.
How are participating businesses promoted? Via the app, website and RNRA annual meeting.
Is there a limit to the number of MRN businesses? No, the more the merrier!
