One of the keys to the desirability of River North is its reputation as one of the safest neighborhoods in the city of Chicago. This does not happen by accident. It is the result of a successful partnership between residents, local businesses, elected representatives and public safety officials.
CAPS (Chicago’s Alternative Policing Strategy)
CAPS is a partnership between police and community to advance public safety issues and improve communications. Beat Meetings are held at 7:00pm on the first Thursday of every odd month at Access Living, 115 W Chicago Ave. Police officers, residents and local business representatives share information and ideas about public safety issues and strategies.
18th Chicago Police District
We are fortunate to have a large and well-equipped police station conveniently located at 1160 North Larrabee, on the southwest corner of Larrabee and Division. The 18th District Commander is Jon Hein.
