2010 River North Film Festival

Marquee

Since 2006, the River North Residents' Association has hosted free outdoor films for the public.

The program is coordinated by our Park Advisory Council, which works with the Chicago Park District on programming and capital improvements in our cherished green public spaces.

The movies are selected based on resident input collected through online surveys.

Click on the posters below for detailed information on each film.

Email PAC Chair Rhea Campbell here.

All films are shown on the riverfront in beautiful Erie Park (map).

Upon arrival, we provide attendees with trash bags and printed programs, and fresh, hot popcorn is always available. Guests are encouraged to come early, stake out a favorite spot for their blanket and bring a picnic dinner, but the Park District asks us to remind everyone that alcohol is not permitted on park property.

Each event begins with a few introductory remarks followed by the evening's film,

which will start approximately at sunset.

Bull & Bear

"This masculine, upscale sports bar in River North is just steps away from the Merchandise Mart. The name gives a nod to the city's two major sports teams, plus a hint at the subtle stock market theme throughout (note the stock ticker stretching across the main bar and the menu, called "The Wells Street Journal.") If you want to take advantage of this spot's coolest feature--pay-by-the-ounce beer taps built right into the table--make a reservation for one of five premium booths sitting 8 to 15 or so people (depending on the day, minimums may apply)

Veuve Cliquot at a sports bar? You bet. Expect fun specialty cocktails and a nice selection of wines holding their own alongside the beer offerings here. With a solid food menu by David Blonsky (Quartino), Bull & Bear's kitchen will be slinging eats all day long, from entree salads and gruyere-topped Kobe burgers at lunch to honey-miso salmon and pork chop with apple fennel salad for dinner. Happy hour appetizers are sports bar classics amped up a notch, from pigs in a blanket with citrus slaw to truffle fries with garlic-lemon aioli..."

Popchips

Healthier, delicious, all-natural. Actually, we are all that and a bag of chips. How do we do it? Well, first, let's talk about how we don't do it. We never fry our chips. That just puts a lot of stuff in there that we could all do without. We never bake our chips either. That just takes a lot of flavor out,

which, as snackers, we simply can't do without.

So we came up with a chip like no snack aisle has seen (or taste bud has tasted). That's because we found a way to pop all the flavor in while keeping fake stuff and more than half the fat of fried chips out.

Thanks to the magic of popped.

The Magic of Popping

Popping is a way of making our all-natural chips. We start with wholesome potatoes, add a little heat and pressure, along with a little snack magic. And pop! It's a chip. With an artful blend of all-natural seasonings, we've created lots of taste bud-popping flavors. Pop open a bag of popchips™ and try for yourself. Everybody has a favorite.
Or two.
